Testimonials

  • Words of Colour have continued to prove that they are both a necessary and vital mechanism in supporting the development of BAMER writers. The strategic ambitions of the organisation to work across literature and other art forms feels like an exciting development and one that I am certain will help write a new chapter in the company’s history. Executive director Joy Francis is an exemplary leader who is respected by her peers and contemporaries for her vision and tenacity. Madani Younis, Artistic Director, Bush Theatre

  • Although 'diversity' is currently a hot topic within publishing circles, with major publishers such as Penguin Random House looking at how it can improve diversity within its own business, it is important to note that Words of Colour, through its programmes and surrounding activity, had long been championing the work and careers of diverse writers and paved the way for this activity to be initiated. Sophie Rochester, CEO and Founder of Yodomo

  • Working with Words of Colour has been a dynamic and hugely beneficial experience, especially helping me to engage with new audiences and expand my readership. It is a diverse-led organisation that is committed to using a wide range of strategies, including the digital world, to provide a unique, arts platform to ensure that the voices of writers of colour are represented. Dreda Say Mitchell, Award-winning crime writer, broadcaster and journalist

  • Working with Joy and Words of Colour is always a pleasure as I know that the events they deliver for me will always be of the most professional and engaging standard. I look forward to working with them again in the very near future. Top class. Natalie Lewis, Outreach and Development Officer, Hackney Libraries
